"I'm too big for a nap"

Over the last several months Tyler has not been wanting to take an afternoon nap. You have to watch those naps though, some times they will sneak up on you!

Ryan's Birthday

We had two parties. One for the Metsker crew, one on his actual birthday and the Young side of the family is catching up with us on Thanksgiving. Talk about spoiled! So we had Elmo for one birthday and Cookie Monster for the next (they both met the same fate)
Can't believe my baby is one.

Halloween

I just noticed that I haven't posted since school started in August. Boy does the time fly! Just thought I would take the chance to post Halloween and Ryan's birthday pictures plus a few candid shots taken over the last couple of months.

First day of School

Before School/After School

Ivan headed off for his first day of kindergarten on Monday. He is loving going to recess, having chocolate milk at lunch and seeing his friends. Since he gets on the bus at 7:02 and isn't home till after 4:00 he is a little tired when he gets home. His teacher's name is Mrs. Case and she has taught for 23 years and has an awesome room. Its been a little hard on mommy to get up at 6:30 but Tyler jumps up and demands to be dressed so he can wait for the bus too.

Ivan's Birthday (a month late)

June was a crazy month! Ivan had a great birthday party with lots of friends and family. Lucky kid has the perfect time of year for a birthday. Just in case you are wondering about the cake, we had a Transformers birthday and that is the symbol of the Autobots. No frilly girl cakes for me! Ivan got lots of fun stuff to play with. We are now addicted to Mario Cart and are glad the weather is good enough for the pool. The sleeping bags have been used a few times and we have enjoyed all the new toys. I'd post video, but am missing the cord I need to get it off the tape and on to my computer.

Firecracker Fun

We had a whole $6 worth of firecrackers, but that's about all the fun a 5 year old and 2 year old can handle. You've got to see the video to fully appreciate it. Hope you all had a fun 4th of July. We went to Ben and Tami's for lunch and the kids played in the pool, then watched fireworks from the porch after milking.

Funny Boys

They are a lot of work, but they sure make me laugh. Hope you enjoy the pictures of Ryan smiling, Tyler after a long day of work on the farm and Ivan trying out a cool hair-do.

Ivan's Gold Medal

Ivan earned a gold medal and certificated today for knowing the sound that every letter makes. His teacher focuses on getting ready to read so he has been learning the sounds the letters make instead of their names. Pretty smart, can't read unless you know B says "buh". He has been doing great in preschool, a little slow at first but he is now learning really quickly. He will be ready to go to kindergarten this fall.

Happy Easter

It was a beautiful Spring day today and we had a great Easter. Yesterday we dyed Easter Eggs. Dye was spilled, boys were crying and the brown eggs didn't take color very well. Its a little difficult to have the fun process I remembered as a kid, but looking back I guess I was 10 years old and grandma had a "system". The Easter bunny froze his tale off putting eggs out at 7 am but it was worth it to see the boys excitement when they found them. Both the boys ate enough sugar to send them into a coma but enjoyed it. Tyler has come out with a new fashion statement for riding attire. Ivan was very happy to see a big basket of candy. I dressed Ryan in the cutest little outfit, then he stuck his finger down his throat and puked all over it before we made it to dinner. At least I got a picture! I'm ready for a little peace and quiet now and maybe just one more deviled egg...

Crazy Days of March

The boys are trying to make their own fun this morning. They are stuck inside due to the blustery cold weather. Tyler is wanting to go outside with Daddy and is prepared for anything with his hat, goggles and cow boots. Ryan is enjoying his new bouncy seat that we snagged at a consignment sale for $8. Ivan is just plain goofy and was practicing his silly faces for the camera. Everyone is doing well, no colds at the moment. (knock on wood). I've been staying busy with my two online classes and building a hydroponic system. Try to get a little work done on the yard on the nice days, kind of a challenge with the little guy. Spring is on the way!

The dreary days of February

Its been a long time since an update, it seems like a long process to get batteries in the camera, take pictures, load them on the computer and get them posted. Ivan had his preschool Valentine's party today and enjoyed taking homemade chocolate suckers. Tyler spent some time outside with Daddy but came in frozen and muddy, can't wait for better weather. Little Ryan is still growing big and heavy.

I got bad news today about the jobs I applied to and won't be going back to work any time soon. Luckily, I have some cute boys to play with and a little income with my online teaching job.

Tyler is Two!

Tyler enjoyed his two birthday parties. He had a small party with just mom, dad and brothers on his birthday and then a large party with lots of family on Saturday. I made him a train cake that was made of different shaped cupcakes. Tyler enjoyed visiting with everyone and getting another round of new toys. His favorite toy has to be his new boots from both Grandma and his Aunt Whitney and Ivy.
